About Virginia A. Barkett and Christine Workowski

Virginia Barkett lives with her husband and their four children on a farm in southwest Virginia. She is a graduate of the University of Richmond and earned her Master’s degree at Florida State University. Upon graduation she worked as the Health Educator at Ole Miss and later at Hollins University. She has always loved teaching, coaching and volunteer work with children of all ages.  She also enjoys working with animals, especially on her family's farm, Sunny Side Ranch.  She runs day camps in the summer where children learn to horseback ride, interact with a menagerie of farm critters, play in the creek and get really dirty!  Her favorite place to be is outside hiking, kayaking, flower gardening and skiing while making memories with her family and friends.  Song of the Season was inspired by her daily drive through the Blue Ridge Mountain countryside as she chauffeured her children to their many activities.

Christine Workowski was born in New Jersey and graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Visual Communication. The mountains of Virginia have been her home for the last twenty-five years, where most spare time is spent enjoying the outdoors with her family. She found artistic outlets, while staying at home to raise her daughter and son, in freelancing as a graphic designer, photographer, and painter. Currently, she is a designer for The Bacova Guild.

Virginia and Christine met on the sideline of their 5 year old daughters’ soccer practice in the autumn of 2001. Each had a baby boy on her hip. Their families have been close friends since and shared many adventures together throughout the years!
